Get Into Position

Greetings!

I wonder if we understand the significance of the intense battle and victory that Jesus won for us that night in Gethsemane.

He set us free from sin! He gave us power over the enemy! We often think of sin as any action that violates the Ten Commandments and there is some truth in that thinking. However if we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God and have not violated those commandments, then how did we sin?

The battle in Gethsemane was not over the Ten Commandments...the battle was over the root of all sin which is rebellion...the assertion of self-will!

The very moment when Jesus emptied Himself of His own self-will and surrendered fully to obey God's will...the battle was won...Satan was defeated!...the power of sin and death was broken!...man was delivered from the dominion of self-will and was set free to do God's will.

Sin is asserting our will instead of doing God's will...that was the problem from the start...Lucifer's rebellion was his assertion of his self-will above God's...that is what caused him to fall.

We must empty ourselves...surrender our will and make a commitment to walk in obedience to God's will before we will see total victory in our lives.

Accepting Jesus as our savior is one act...accepting Him as Lord is another step...one can be saved and not be living the victorious life because we are allowing our will to over ride the will of the Father.

There is more to salvation than walking down an aisle and simply confessing words...true conversion is completely and totally forsaking self and self-will and living only to do God's will.

To walk in the fullness of the power of God...we must be willing to empty ourselves...to be totally committed to obedience and submission of His will!

In order to obtain more of God...there will to have be less of us...we have to die to our self-will...His victory was not easy and neither will surrendering our self-will be easy...however it is necessary in order to position ourselves to live the victorious life.

Blessings

Paul
